1st ESO-EAAE Astronomy Summer School

Introduction

ESO and the European Association for Astronomy Education (EAAE) organised the 1st ESO-EAAE Summer School, on "Strategies for effective teaching of astronomy". This took place at the ESO headquarters in Garching bei München from 19-23 July 2007. The summer school included workshops on astronomy teaching activities, as well as a series of general talks presented by scientists at ESO. The aim was to promote active participation and the exchange of ideas. The course was open to all teachers with an interest in astronomy, and the working language of the summer school was English.
