ESO CD-ROMs

This page list the collection of CD-ROMs that are currently available. They can be obtained from the education and Public Outreach Department (ePOD) at cost. For ordering, please consult the Order Form.

WFI CD-ROM (November 2002) Six Wide-Field-Imager (WFI) Full Resolution Images (November 2002)

This double CD-ROM contains six large TIFF-files with full-resolution versions of six wide-field images, obtained with the Wide-Field-Imager (WFI) on the MPG/ESO 2.2-m telescope at the La Silla Observatory. The objects are the Moon (ESO PR 02/99), the Tarantula Nebula in the LMC (ESO PR Photo 14/02), the star-forming area RCW 108 (ESO PR Photo 21/99), the spiral galaxies NGC 300 (ESO PR Photo 18/02) and NGC 4945 (ESO PR 18/99), and the cluster of galaxies ACO 3627 ("The Great Attractor") (ESO PR Photo 46/99). Each field covers about 8000 x 8000 pix2. The CD-ROMs were produced by the ESO Public Relations Department. to show the true wealth of information on such frames and also to allow professional-quality reproduction of the full fields.

Panorama CD-ROM (March 2001)This CD-ROM has been produced by the ESO Public Affairs Department to make available (e.g., for professional-quality reproduction) the full datasets for the unique panoramic views of ESO's observatories at La Silla and Paranal, published as PR Photo 39/99 and PR Photo 11/01, respectively.

The formats of the two image files are Paranal: 23457 x 3496 pix, corresponding to 497 cm x 74 cm at 120 ppi; RGB TIFF; 235 Mb - and La Silla: 17500 x 1983 pix; 440 cm x 50 cm at 100 ppi; RGB TIFF; 99 Mb.
